Our subject-specific events, workshops and activities will help your students learn about university, and support your school or college in meeting Gatsby Benchmark 4 and 7.

We’re exploring ways to bring you these events on campus, but as school and college life may be a little different 2020/21, we’re ready with a digital alternative.

Year 12 Virtual Business and Law Taster Days

Week commencing 14 December 2020, 3 days – dates to be confirmed

The Virtual Business and Law Taster Days will help take your student’s studies to the next level. They’ll get an introduction to studying these subjects at university and hear from our current students. Taster sessions will cover the core themes of business and law courses and degree apprenticeships at the University of Portsmouth, including Marketing, Business, HR, Law – and more.

Year 12 Virtual Humanities and Social Sciences Taster Days

25 January 2020-5 February 2021

Explore the worlds of education, languages, history, sociology, English, childhood studies and politics at our Virtual Humanities and Social Sciences Taster Days. We’ll help your students reach their career goals, step by step, and give them full insight into our courses and where a degree could take them. They’ll hear from our current students, get answers to their questions and find out what it’s like to study with us.

Help solve one of the most enduring issues facing society. Our Virtual Criminology Taster Day gives your students an insight into the fascinating and complex world of studying Criminology. In 2 online workshops, they’ll learn about different courses, careers in the field, and the skills and knowledge they’ll get.

Year 12 Creative and Cultural Industries Masterclass Day

Spring 2021 – dates to be confirmed

Whether in fashion, design or illustration, creative writing, media studies, architecture, animation, film or computer games technology, our students are learning by doing using the latest technical facilities and simulated environments. Our interactive masterclass workshop give your students the chance to do the same for the day, so they can learn about the practical, technical and critical abilities necessary to excel in the creative industry.

Bespoke STEM events for post-16

STEM underpins all facets of modern life and evolves at relentless speeds. Your students can learn how to kick-start their career in STEM with our bespoke taster sessions in a number of subject areas.

Our Faculty of Technology can deliver these remotely, or we can come to your school or college. Sessions last 1-2 hours, and we’ll work with you to adapt what we do to your curriculum and timetable.

We can offer the following sessions at your school or college:
