A follow-up from COP26 and an update on what the University is doing on sustainability and climate actions.

We're sure you've heard the news from the UN Climate Conference COP26 over the past few weeks, where world leaders committed to taking action on climate change.

Please join us at 1pm on Friday 10 December to hear how colleagues across the university contributed to COP26 and to the Portsmouth Climate Festival that ran at the same time.

This meeting will provide an update on our efforts to address climate change and sustainability. As part of our efforts to be climate positive by 2030, which is one of the most ambitious climate targets of any university in Europe, we'll also discuss how we can become climate positive in the future.

Our colleagues will answer your questions and explain how we can create a more sustainable future:

  • Claire Crothers - Procurement Manager
  • Steve Fletcher - Professor of Ocean Policy and Economy and Director of the Sustainability and the Environment research theme, and Chair of Portsmouth Climate Action Board
  • Nick Leach - Head of Catering Services
  • Ian McCormack - Energy and Environmental Manager
  • Bernie Topham - Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor

As a University, this could have a major impact on everything we do, from teaching to research, to travel, events, and procurement to the way we manage our facilities. This is why it is vital that all of us participate in this discussion.
