Research in this area covers a broad range of topics within Portsmouth Law School and the Law Research Group, from employment protection to data protection and the regulation and governance of companies, to the law as it affects family members throughout their lives.
Our research feeds into governmental and parliamentary inquiries, for example, the law of succession, the sale of ivory in the UK, and various equality inquiries.

This project explores the positive aspects of human vulnerability. It also investigates the possibilities and implications for law of treating vulnerability as a condition that can cause harm and suffering to flourish

An article that argues the FOIA's approach to anonymisation and personal data is detached from contemporary authoritative understandings of these concepts and should be rethought, and proposes a new model for disclosing data under the FOIA based on notions of privacy and data protection by design
