Law research

Find out more about the Law research we're doing, across our 3 areas of expertise

Our research in Law explores the myriad ways that laws and the legal system shape society and affect the daily lives of people at all levels within it.

The work we're doing in the 3 areas of expertise below frequently feeds in to the University's strategic themes and is used by governments, organisations and individuals who are developing and implementing new legal policies – our research around the law of succession, and the sale of ivory in the UK are two such examples.

Following the Research Excellence Framework 2021, we are ranked joint seventh among modern universities by research power for Law, according to Times Higher Education. Read more about our Law submission to REF 2021.

Members of the School also write a number of Company and Commercial, Employment and other textbooks and use their (and others) research in their teaching.
